The CA is committed to guaranteeing that all Kenyans have access to dependable, affordable, and high-quality communication services, as evidenced by the release of its 5th Strategic Plan 2023–2027.
The Authority has shown its steadfast commitment to making internet connectivity feasible for every Kenyan with the new strategy.
According to CA Director General Mr. David Mugonyi, during a ceremony presided over by Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communication, and the Digital Economy Mr. Eliud Owalo, the plan is based on four fundamental pillars:
1) promoting meaningful connectivity to ICT services,
2) empowering and protecting ICT consumers,
3) fostering competitive ICT markets and emerging technologies,
and 4) improving organizational effectiveness and efficiency.
The four pillars support 17 strategic goals spanning all subsectors and priority areas, including expanding postal and courier services, adopting emerging technologies, improving cyber security and broadband penetration, and empowering women, youth, and individuals with disabilities through digital means.
The Authority, with its previous Strategic Plan, achieved a commendable score of 72.6%, setting a solid foundation for the current Strategic Plan. For this plan, the Authority has set a high bar, aiming for a 95% score.
Ms. Mary Mungai, the CA Board of Directors Chairperson, reiterates the Authority’s unwavering commitment to ensuring digital access for all. This commitment is not just a strategy but a vision to make ICTs the driving force behind the nation’s socioeconomic progress, a way of life, and a source of fulfillment for everyone.
According to Mr. Owalo, the Ministry is still cognizant of the need to speed up digital transformation in all economic sectors. It is considering some of the partnerships specified in CA’s Strategic Plan.
